Her Majesty the Queen
The Souvenir Francais au Royaume-Uni (aka the French War Graves Commission in the UK) is deeply saddened to hear the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family.
Her Majesty has reigned over 70 years and has been an extraordinary monarch for the United Kingdom. Having begun to undertake public duties during the second world war by serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, she has been close to the armed forces throughout her reign.
So much can be told about her life – At this point in time, the Souvenir Francais au Royaume-Uni wishes to praise her engagement at an early age. At 14 years old, she made her first radio broadcast during the BBC’s Children’s Hour, addressing other children who had been evacuated from the cities:
We are trying to do all we can to help our gallant sailors, soldiers, and airmen, and we are trying, too, to bear our own share of the danger and sadness of war. We know, every one of us, that in the end all will be well.
It indeed set the tone for the leadership she would continue to exercise throughout her lifetime.
